INDIANAPOLIS (WOWO): The Indiana Fire Marshal is issuing a reminder for Indiana residents about when and where fireworks can be legally used.

Indiana law specifies fireworks can be used from 9 in the morning until two hours after sunset from through Friday, from 9 a.m. to midnight on July Fourth, and from 9 a.m. until two hours after sunset July 5th through July 9th.

Fireworks can be used legally on the user's property, on the property of someone who has given permission and at a special fireworks discharge location approved by local authorities.

Using fireworks at any other location could result in a fine of $500 per infraction. 

Even in places where regulations are followed, damaging someone else's property with fireworks could result in a fine of $5,000 and one a year in prison.
