FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): The Three Rivers Water Filtration Plant, which serves over 300,000 people in the Fort Wayne area, has received national praise.

The city announced Wednesday that the EPA and American Water Works Association awarded the plant with the 15-Year Directors Award for operations and performance. 

Less than 1 percent of the 11,500 surface water treatment plants in the country have ever received the recognition. The plant joins only 77 other plants that have earned the award. 

In celebration, water treatment plant tours will be offered on Thursday, July 16th from 2 until 5 PM.
