Metal-Finishing Company Plans to Reopen Closed Kokomo Plant

KOKOMO, Ind. (AP) _ A metal-finishing company plans to renovate a closed factory in Kokomo and put it back in operation by the end of this year.
 
Indianapolis-based Saran Industries announced Tuesday that it would spend $4.4 million to lease and renovate the 250,000-square-foot complex.
 
The Kokomo Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/1Fw9eGM ) that the old Pittsburgh Paint Group factory has been vacant since 2008, when it was closed by aluminum manufacturer Indalex.
 
Saran Industries expects to hire up to 60 workers over the next few years in Kokomo. The company provides surface finishing of metal products for the automobile industry and currently has operations in Indianapolis and Shelbyville.
 
The Indiana Economic Development Corp. has offered Saran up to $500,000 in tax credits based on its hiring plans.
