Trooper, Suspect Shot in Gunfight at Indianapolis Apartments

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) _ Authorities say an Indiana State Police trooper and a suspect have been shot in Indianapolis.

State Police Capt. Dave Bursten tells WISH-TV the trooper was shot in the hand and his injury is not believed to be life-threatening.

WISH says the suspect was shot multiple times. His condition was not immediately available.

The shooting occurred Thursday afternoon at an apartment complex on the city's northwest side.

It's the second police-action shooting involving a state trooper in less than a week. A trooper in French Lick last Friday shot and killed a man armed with a metal pipe who approached him and a second officer and ignored commands to drop it.
