Workers, Employers to Connect at Forum

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): The City of Fort Wayne hopes to do more than attract jobs. It also wants to provide a qualified work force for those jobs.

Thursday, Mayor Tom Henry announced the first-ever Education-Employer Forum. The event aims to connect employers with would-be employees and provide them with a better understanding on what it takes to be an attractive candidate. The event also involves educational institutions.

 

 

The first forum is next Thursday at Ivy Tech south campus at the Public Safety Academy. The event lasts from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. It is free and open to the public.

 

Henry says unlike a job fair, jobs aren't necessarily available, but job hunters will learn what type of training and education is needed for specific jobs. He the event is meant to potential workers chances for success.
