Indiana Man Reaches Plea Deal in Double-Murder

CORYDON, Ind. (AP) _ A southern Indiana man has agreed to plead guilty in the 2013 slayings of a rural Harrison County couple.

Austin Scott agreed Thursday to plead guilty to murder and felony murder in exchange for life in prison without parole. A judge will consider his plea Jan. 14.

Authorities say Scott and his friend, Kevin Schuler, broke into the couple's home in August 2013 planning to steal guns and prescription drugs.

Both were 18 at the time of the killings. Schuler's trial is scheduled for May.

WDRB-TV reports Scott allegedly fatally stabbed 70-year-old Gary Henderson, who suffered 23 stab wounds.

Schuler allegedly beat 57-year-old Asenath “Sennie'' Arnold to death using a wooden stick with a metal end. The victims' friends said Arnold was in a wheelchair and couldn't fight back.
