UPDATED: Pedestrian Killed by Train in Kosciusko County

SYRACUSE, Ind. (WOWO): A Syracuse teenager was struck and killed this morning by a train in northern Kosciusko County.

The Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department says 17-year-old Christopher Prater of Syracuse was pronounced dead at the CSX railroad tracks east of Syracuse near the intersection of Warner and Cornelius Roads. Officers were notified this morning at just after 7am of someone being hit by a westbound CSX freight train that was on its way to Chicago. Coroner Michael Wilson pronounced Prater dead at the scene, but added that the incident is still under investigation.
