No Charges For FWPD Officer in Dollar General Suspect Shooting

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A Fort Wayne police officer who shot a suspect in a Doller General robbery in August will not be charged.

The officer responded to a report of a robbery at a Doller General on East State Boulevard on August 23rd. When the officer arrived, 42 year old Anthony Gant tried to flee out the front door before being shot by an officer. Gant was hospitalized, but he survived his wounds.

The Allen County Prosecutor's Office said in a statement Wednesday that the officer will not be charged for shooting Gant because there was no evidence of criminal liability.

Gant's criminal case is still pending and it's suspected that Gant and another suspect may possibly have been involved in other recent Dollar General robberies.
