Police Arrest One for Crash that Halted I-69

STEUBEN COUNTY, Ind. (WOWO): A man was arrested yesterday after leaving the scene of a drunk-driving crash that brought down power lines and closed a portion of I-69.

The Steuben County Sheriff's Office says the crash happened at around 2:46am on Southbound I-69 at the 354 mile marker; they found an SUV in the ditch near an off-ramp, after it had apparently gone off-road, and broken two utility poles in half. Witnesses say the driver, 28-year-old Crag Scheuer of Edon, OH, got out of his vehicle, got into another vehicle, and left the scene.

Police tracked him down at a gas station in Fremont shortly thereafter, and arrested him for OWI, leaving the scene of an accident and on a prior outstanding warrant. I-69's north and southbound lanes, as well as State Road 127, had to be closed for 4 and 1/2 hours while crews cleared the live power lines from the roadway.
