Indiana personal income growth lags behind most of US

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (WOWO): Hoosiers are in the bottom half of a look at personal incomes across the entire United States.

New data released from the US Department of Commerce ranks Indiana at 38th in the nation with a state personal income growth of 4.4% in 2015, which was the same rate as last year.

Things could certainly be worse, as personal income actually went backwards 0.2% in North Dakota, who ranked last in the study, while California ranked first with a growth of 6.3%.

Indiana would’ve slipped further if not for a big boost in incomes in the last quarter of 2015, thanks in part to bonuses paid to workers by the United Auto Workers union, according to the Indy Star.
