Police respond to barricaded subject on Fort Wayne’s north side

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Just after 1 p.m. Saturday, officers responded to a report of an armed subject at a residence on Patrician Place, near Coldwater Road. Officials say a woman called police in regards to her husband having a gun.  She stated that her husband pointed the gun at himself and attempted to get his 7-year-old step son to pull the trigger. The woman was able to make it out of the house safely with her son before calling police.

Crews arrived to the scene and attempted to make contact with the suspect who refused to come out of the house. Police then established a perimeter around the house and contacted the Emergency Service Team and Crisis Response Team.

As emergency crews arrived, contact was established with the suspect. The man surrendered and came out without conflict after a short verbal exchange with police.  The suspect was taken in for a psychological evaluation at a local hospital. There were no injuries associated with this incident, which remains under investigation.
