Fort Wayne Police Officer Boyce Ballinger promoted to Sergeant

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A Fort Wayne Police officer that was seriously injured on the job earlier this year was promoted Monday.

Officer Boyce Ballinger was promoted to Sergeant, according to the Fort Wayne Police Department’s Facebook page.

After responding to a domestic dispute involving a house fire in April, Ballinger was hospitalized for smoke inhalation and was put into a coma while his lungs healed.

Ballinger is a 20-year Fort Wayne Police Department veteran.
