Vacant house destroyed in fire

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Another empty house goes up in smoke in northeast Fort Wayne.

The Fort Wayne Fire Department was called to a home at 7330 Blackhawk Lane near Lahmeyer Road at about 3:11 this morning. When they arrived they found a fire had fully engulfed the rear of the house, extending into the second floor and attic area.

The fire was so intense crews couldn’t get inside and needed to extinguish it from a distance. Nobody was hurt.

There have been more than a dozen fires in that part of town since April, all of which were in vacant homes.
