More than 50 marijuana plants seized in Van Wert

VAN WERT, Ohio (WOWO): Police in Van Wert County discovered an illegal marijuana growing operation yesterday.

Sheriff Thomas Riggenbach tells WOWO news deputies searched a home on State Route 116 in Van Wert and found 52 marijuana plants, as well as drug paraphernalia, prescription bottles, and a small amount of what they think is morphine.

The marijuana plants have a street value of $52,000.

30-year-old David Haught Jr. of Ada was arrested on 5th-degree felony drug charges. A 36-year-old man who was also in the home at the time was not charged. The Sheriff is also sending a nuisance abatement letter to the property owner to make them aware of the illegal activities happening there.
