FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): High school students have the chance to provide a voice for the youth of Fort Wayne.

Mayor Tom Henry is looking for applicants for his Mayor’s Youth Engagement Council for the 2016-2017 school year, according to the city of Fort Wayne. 

The council will be comprised of high school students and provide a voice for the youth of Fort Wayne. They’ll engage their peers, create innovative solutions and work on projects.

The program will also include panel discussions, guest speakers and special events. Applicants must be a city resident and enrolled as a high school sophomore, junior or senior.

The space on the council is limited and is a one year commitment.

Applications will be accepted through Sept. 6 and are available at the city of Fort Wayne’s website.

They can be turned in to the Mayor’s Office at Citizens Square, 200 E. Berry St. or mailed to Mayor’s Office, Attn: Karen L. Richards, Citizens Square, 200 E. Berry Street, 4th floor, Fort Wayne, IN 46802.
