FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A Fort Wayne man was sentenced in court on Thursday after police say he shot someone during a home-invasion.
Robert L. Murphy III, 22, was sentenced to two years of a four year work release term. The other two years will be suspended and served on probation, according to the News-Sentinel.
In July, Murphy pled guilty to criminal recklessness, which is a Level 5 felony. An accomplice and Murphy broke into a home in the 1600 block of St. Marys Avenue on April 21.
Sometime during the home-invasion, Murphy starting shooting at the occupant. He shot at him a couple times and missed. The victim was struck by a bullet after it ricocheted off the ground and hit him.
Murphy’s attorney said his PTSD from serving in the military was to blame for the incident.
