Abandoned home catches fire, threatening neighbor’s home

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Fort Wayne firefighters acted fast Friday morning, after an abandoned home caught fire.

Brett Brown with the Fort Wayne Fire Department said crews were called to the abandoned house, located on Southpark Drive near E. Maplegrove Avenue, at about 5:30 a.m. The house was heavily involved in flames and threatening a neighbor’s house to the south.

Firefighters extinguished the fire in less than 10 minutes, minimizing damage to the neighbor’s home.
