FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): With the start of December, the Christmas spirit is in the air and and Sweet Aviation is hosting a unique toy drive for children in need.

The Toys for Tots “Fill the Plane” event is 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3. People are encouraged to come to Smith Field Airport at 902 W. Ludwig Road and donate new, packaged toys, according to the Fort Wayne-Allen County Airport Authority. 

Participated can watch planes fly, enjoy hot cocoa and games for the whole family.

The goal for the event is to collect enough toys to fill a plane before it takes off for the North Pole.

The event starts at 10 a.m. and the place is scheduled for take-off at 3:30 p.m.
