FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A local high school catcher might be headed to Major League Baseball.

Carroll High School senior Hayden Jones is a favorite to be drafted by an MLB club during the 2018 Draft, which runs from tonight through Wednesday afternoon.

The Journal Gazette reports he has attended multiple scouting events and is expected to be picked up in either the first or second rounds of the draft. His grandfather coached DeKalb to a state title in 1980, and his father once played for the San Diego Padres.

He currently has a .494 batting average and ranks fifth in the state in home runs.

The draft can be watched online at MLB.com.
