Park board approves Memorial Park upgrades

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): The Fort Wayne Park Board has approved $700,000 in upgrades for Memorial Park.

The improvements, recommended by a task force that looked into making upgrades after a plan to build an Indiana Tech sports complex at the park fell through due to public opposition, include fixing up old statues and memorials and making landscaping upgrades.

The Journal Gazette reports that two memorials: one for Vietnam veterans, the other for the Fort Wayne Daisies women’s baseball team, will be moved to other locations still within the park.

The work is expected to all be done in April.
