INDOT to make safety improvements at I-469/US 24 interchange

(Saige Driver / 1190 WOWO)

NEW HAVEN, Ind. (WOWO): The Indiana Department of Transportation has some changes in mind for an Allen County intersection that has seen its fair share of crashes.

According to the Indiana State Police, there have been 183 crashes so far this year at the interchange between US 24 and Interstate 469 outside of New Haven, and our Partners in News at ABC 21 report that includes 58 injury crashes.

Three people have died in crashes there in the past two months.

Truckers are blaming congestion caused by traffic signals, where multiple cars and trucks are trying to merge all at once.

INDOT says they’ll be getting rid of the signals, and adding two new ramps, in an effort to alleviate that congestion by 2020.
