(WOWO News)

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO) – The Fort Wayne Police Department was dispatched around 3:55 p.m. to the 2500 block of Barr Street on reports of a shooting Sunday.

Upon arrival, police found Truvarus L. Giddens, Jr., 22 of Fort Wayne, on the floor inside the residence.  He was taken to an area hospital where he died a short time later.

The Allen County Coroner’s Office says Giddens’ death was due to gunshot wound(s) and the manner of death was a homicide. His death marks the 39th homicide in Allen County this year.

Detectives and crime scene investigators found several shell casings in the alley north of the residence.  Investigators think the shooting took place in the alley outside as there were multiple gunshot holes in the building.  Police believe the victim made his way into the house after being shot.

The police are asking if anyone witnessed the shooting or have any information, please contact Crime Stoppers at 436-STOP (436-7867).  This incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County Coroner’s Office and the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office.
