A man is in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): At 6:05 p.m. Friday evening, the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to reports of a vehicle crash with injuries at the corner of South Anthony Blvd and Simons Street.  Upon arrival, officers located a man lying in the middle of the road.  He was taken to a local hospital and is in critical condition.

Witnesses indicated the man was walking in the middle of the road with dark clothing on.  One person stated they had to swerve to avoid hitting him.  A man in a GMC Envoy was traveling northbound on South Anthony Blvd. when he hit the man just north of Simons Street.  The driver remained at the scene and has been very cooperative with officers.  The driver of the Envoy and their two passengers were not injured.  Investigators do not believe that drugs or alcohol are a factor.  The crash remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department and the Allen County Prosecutor’s office.
