AUBURN, Ind. (WOWO) – DeKalb Health has announced its pursuing a partnership with a larger health care system.

Greater Fort Wayne Business Weekly reports several health care systems are being considered, and a letter of intent is being formalized.

DeKalb Health opened its doors in 1964 and has operated for more than 50 years as an independent community hospital serving the residents of DeKalb County and surrounding communities.

The hospital already works with larger hospitals in specific areas. Specialists from Parkview and Lutheran medical groups of Fort Wayne are members of DeKalb Health’s medical staff, and see patients out of the Auburn campus. In addition, DeKalb’s and Parkview’s emergency rooms are staffed by the same physicians group.

More information on an affiliation will be provided once details are solidified.
