Allen County Democrats announce “voter protection program”

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): The Allen County Democratic Party wants to make sure all votes count next week.

Party Chairman Jack Morris tells WOWO News they’ll be using a “voter protection program” to make sure there’s no funny business at the polls on Election Day.

“We have trained personnel who are trained on the election laws and the procedures for processing voters, so they can assist with that process,” Morris says.

Morris adds the effort will be entirely politically neutral, and is about making sure all legally registered voters have a say.

“The process is basically just making sure things are moving smoothly, that lines aren’t getting excessively long, that election laws are being followed and applied, that there aren’t any problems with the machines.”

Morris adds that the watchers won’t ask who you’re voting for, nor do they want to know. The whole purpose is to restore the public’s faith in the system, during an election year where Donald Trump, the Republican Presidential Nominee, declares it’s “rigged.”

“We have a check-and-balance system to make sure that only lawful people are voting. Both the Republican and Democrat parties are working hard at this.”
