Another Phone Scam Circulating around Kosciusko County

KOSCIUSKO COUNTY, Ind. (WOWO) The Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department detectives are warning citizens of yet another telephone scam circulating around the area.

The scam-caller will portray themselves as a police officer, sheriff’s deputy or a member of the jail staff to gain the confidence of the potential victim.

The suspect then claims that a family member or employee is currently in jail and needs bail money.  The caller will then ask the potential victim to forward money via a Green Dot prepaid money card, or another similar source.

Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department say they will never call soliciting for bail money for any person in jail.
