Ball State Down to 5 Presidential Finalists

MUNCIE, Ind. (AP): The head of Ball State University's presidential search committee says it plans to interview five finalists seeking to become the school's new leader.

The new president will replace Jo Ann Gora, who plans to retire in June after 10 years leading the 18,000-student university in Muncie.

Search committee chairman Wayne Estopinal tells The Star Press the names of the finalists are being kept confidential but that the group doesn't include political figures or current business executives.

Estopinal says the finalists were picked from among 22 applicants who were first reviewed by an executive search firm.

The committee intends to interview the finalists in private this month and recommend two or three finalists to Ball State's Board of Trustees to consider.
