FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Visit Fort Wayne recorded 32,609 visits to local attractions during the annual Be a Tourist in Your Own Hometown event.

That number is up 21.5% from last year, making it the most participated day in it’s 18 year history.

“From The Old Fort’s perspective, I would say that this was the most successful ‘Be A Tourist’ of all time,” said Tom Grant of Historic Fort Wayne. “What is especially encouraging to us is the quality of the crowds. Generally speaking, folks were very interested in what our demonstrations and living historians were presenting.”

The event included attractions from 16 attractions.
