Bedford Man Falls 17 Feet While Fishing

LAWRENCE COUNTY, Ind. (WOWO):  A Bedford man fell 17 feet while fishing and suffered serious injuries.

On Saturday, 47 year old Jerry Lemmons was fishing at Williams Dam just southwest of Bedford.  He was on a platform commonly called the “catwalk” when he lost his balance and fell 17 feet.  He landed on concrete near the White River.

Lemmons sustained multiple broken bones and head trauma.  Indian Creek and Williams Volunteer Firefighters used ropes and a stokes basket to haul Lemmons to higher ground.  He was air lifted to the University of Louisville Hospital for treatment.

The incident remains under investigation by conservation officers.
