INDIANA (WOWO): As college students are going back to school, the Indiana Immunization Coalition is trying to protect them from Meningitis B.

The Indiana Immunization Coalition is partnering with pharmacies to launch the “Beware of B” campaign, which is designed to raise awareness about Meningitis B.

Each year, approximately 1,000 people contract the disease in the United States and 10 to 15 percent of those people will die, according to the Centers for Disease Control. People who survive could suffer from disabilities such as brain damage, loss of limbs and hearing loss.

Anyone seeking immunization against meningitis B should ask their doctor or visit an Indiana Walgreens store.
