A WOWO listener sent us this picture of the traffic backup on I-469 Wednesday morning

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A Cedar Canyon Elementary School teacher has been identified as the man hit by a semi on I-469 Wednesday morning.

Cedar Canyon Principal Kim Lochmueller sent a letter to parents, notifying them that second grade teacher Chris Dodane was involved in the accident on I-469 northbound near the Maysville Road exit. 

According to a police report, Dodane was hit by a semi after jumping a guardrail near the exit. Police are still investigating what would have caused him to be on the roadway. 

Northwest Allen County Schools say the students have been informed of Dodane's death and will have counseling staff on-hand.
