British crew to film restored SW Ind. troop ship

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (AP): A restored World War Two troop landing ship that's moored in Evansville has attracted the attention of a British television production company.

A British crew is scheduled to visit Evansville next week to shoot video of the LST-325 for an upcoming World War Two documentary.

LST-325 board of directors member Chris Donahue tells The Evansville Courier and Press that the production company will visit Evansville on February 14 and Saturday February 15.

He says the LST-325 “is the only LST in the world that is operational and looks like it did in World War Two.” The LST-325 served in the Allied invasions of Sicily and Salerno, Italy as well as at Normandy.

Donahue says this won't be the ship's first cameo in a WWII television program. It was also featured in a 2007 History Channel series.
