Car falls into St. Joseph River, driver rescued

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Fort Wayne firefighters rescued someone from a car that fell into the St. Joseph River last night.

According to our Partners in News at ABC 21, the car was spotted by witnesses near Johnny Appleseed Park at about 9:15pm Tuesday.

Firefighters were able to get to the car and rescue one person from inside it as it sank to the bottom of the river.

That person was not identified and was last reported in serious condition at a nearby hospital. The car had apparently gone into the river off a boat ramp a few yards away.
