Construction worker in critical condition after I-469 hit and run

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A construction worker is in critical condition after he was hit by a car on I-469.

The construction worker was hit by a hit-and-run driver at around 11:25 a.m. on Monday. The worker was upgraded, but then was later downgraded to critical condition.

The incident happened on I-469 about two miles east of the U.S. 27/Decatur Road intersection. The worker was moving traffic equipment when he was hit by a red pickup that didn’t stop, according to authorities.

A driver was pulled over in New Haven and is being questioned. All traffic was shut down for a couple of hours between U.S. 27 and Marion Center road.
