GARY, Ind. (AP) _ Authorities say a 15-year-old girl has been fatally shot in Gary.

The Lake County coroner's office in northwest Indiana says Daja Brookshire was pronounced dead shortly before 11:30 p.m. Sunday at Methodist Northlake Hospital in Gary.

The girl's death has been ruled a homicide.
