Cougars Win Women’s NAIA Crown

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (WOWO): Fort Wayne’s University of St. Francis topped College of the Ozarks 75-68 to capture the NAIA Women’s Basketball Division II National Championship and finish a perfect 38-0 season Tuesday.

USF’s Skylarr Shurn was named Most Valuable Player with 30 points. Cougar teammates Brooke Ridley, a Bishop Luers grad,  was a first-team all-tournament team selection. Jenelle Wilson, a Norwell product, made the second-team.

The team will be honored in a homecoming celebration tonight at the Hutzell Center tonight. The team is expected to arrive between 8 and 9 p.m.

The men’s basketball team won the NAIA Division II title in 2010.
