Duplex Fire on Lake Avenue Remains Under Investigation

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Fort Wayne fire crews were called to the 900 block of Lake Avenue Wednesday morning, after multiple reports of a duplex fire. One person was able to get out of the residence prior to firefighters arriving. That resident was taken to a local hospital for minor injuries.

Once crews made it to the scene at 10:19 a.m., they found heavy fire and smoke coming from both the first and second floors. Firefighters extinguished the fire in 31 minutes and were able to keep it from spreading.

As of 2:30 p.m., Wednesday afternoon, crews were still on scene overhauling and will continue to be rotated.

The duplex suffered heavy fire, smoke and water damage. Meanwhile, the cause of the fire is still being investigated.
