EACS Vote To Hire Outside Consultant

NEW HAVEN, Ind. (WOWO): A new hire from the East Allen County Schools board could mean school construction is in the near future.

Steve Klink was hired in a 6-to-1 vote to be an outside consultant in their plans to upgrade school facilities.  He'll advise the board on how to move forward with construction. Klink is the owner of First Tuesday Communications in Lafayette. The board will be looking for direction on a budget, timeline and campaign message to make the school building referendum successful.

According to the Journal Gazette, the current referendum proposal is up to $74 million dollars with $62 million in construction costs. The plan calls for additions to New Haven Primary School and New Haven Intermediate, as well as demolishing the existing New Haven Middle School and revisions to New Haven High School.

Another proposal would call for upgrades to Heritage and Leo attendance areas.
