ECHL Announces League Cap and Ownership Transfer

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO):  During the mid-season Board of Governors meeting held in Orlando, Florida, the ECHL announced that the Las Vegas Wranglers have withdrawn membership from the league.

The Wranglers were under a voluntary suspension this season and were unable to find a location to play by next season.  

The league also announced a Transfer of Controlling Interest of the Stockton Thunder Membership from the SC Hockey Franchise Corporation, which is controlled by Brad Rowbotham, to the Adirondack Flames Canada Limited.  ECHL Commissioner Brian McKenna said. “We welcome the Flames ownership group to our League as they add an ECHL team to their impressive list of teams at various levels.”

The Board of Governors also approved a 30 team cap. The League currently operates with 28 teams in the United States and Canada.
