Economist: May’s Job Numbers Point to a Barely Expanding American Economy

INDIANAPOLIS (WOWO): The U.S. Labor Department has released job numbers, and a local economist says the data shows the economy is barely growing. 217,000 jobs were added last month, leaving the unemployment rate unchanged at 6.3%. Ball State economist Michael Hicks says this shows the economy is growing very slowly, “suggesting that the highly anticipated weather rebound that should boost the economy in second quarter is not materializing.”
