EF1 Tornado Struck Southwestern Indiana

NEW HARMONY, Ind. (AP): The National Weather Service says a tornado struck southwestern Indiana earlier this week.

It says the EF1 tornado with a peak wind of 100 mph struck just east of New Harmony on Monday and traveled an estimated five miles. It says that estimate could change. Tornadoes are ranked from EF0 to EF6 on the enhanced Fujita scale.

The weather service says the tornado didn't cause any injuries and that damage was still being assessed Thursday.

New Harmony is about 25 miles northwest of Evansville.
