GOSHEN, Ind. (AP) — An Elkhart man accused of pointing a gun at a 4-year-old child during a house burglary has been sentenced to 19 years in prison.
The Elkhart Truth reports 22-year-old Davonta Johnson was sentenced Thursday by Circuit Judge Terry Shewmaker after he was found guilty of robbery and burglary with a deadly weapon in a bench trial.
According to the probable cause affidavit for his arrest, Johnson broke into a house, threatened the victims with a gun and stole about $230.
According to Shewmaker's written order, one of the victims was in the bathroom about to give her younger child a bath when she heard a loud crash. The victim went to the kitchen and found Johnson pointing a gun at her 4-four-old.
Shewmaker called it “inexcusable.”
