Fire Damages Home North West of Downtown

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Four people evacuated safely from a house fire north west of Fort Wayne's downtown. It happened just before 6 P.M. Tuesday when fire crews were called to the home on St. Mary's Avenue. When they got to the scene, they found the porch at the back fully engulfed in flames, extending to the kitchen inside the home. It took firefighters just under 15 minutes to get the blaze under control, the cause of which is still under investigation. The house had moderate fire, smoke, and water damage. A house next door sustained moderate heat damage. No injuries were reported.
