At the time, Director of Marketing Melissa Koeneman said the revolving bread sign that was first put up in 1957 would continue spinning on top of the Pearl Street building until the new owners decided to remove it.
According to our partners in news at 21ALIVE, President and CEO John F. Popp said when that time comes, they would “gladly remove it and relocate it to a place that is permitted by the city and zoning officials.”
Construction crews started removing other Aunt Millie’s signage from the Pearl Street building on Tuesday. Crews say they will take down the spinning bread sign on Wednesday.
Koeneman said on Tuesday while they don’t know the final home of the sign quite yet, the ultimate goal is to keep it in downtown Fort Wayne.
If not, she says it will be moved to their new headquarters on Bluffton Road.
“We are excited that the sign is being preserved,” Aunt Millie’s Executive Vice President of Quality and Brand Strategy Bohn Popp says. “We know it has been a part of so many great memories for generations of Fort Wayne residents, and we are committed to preserving the sign for future generations.”

Thank you so much for preserving this!
I feared that it would end up in a landfill like so much of our history.
