Fort Wayne Man Arrested on Numerous Felonies Following Vehicle and Foot Chase

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A Fort Wayne man was arrested Sunday afternoon on gun-related charges and others, following a car chase with a Trooper from the Gang and Violent Crimes Unit.

Around 5:00 p.m., Sunday evening, Trooper John Grant attempted to pull over 23-year-old Henry Charles Purifoy III for a traffic violation near South Anothy and Drexel Avenue. Purifoy slowed to a stop, but then sped away leading Grant on a chase. Purifoy allegedly threw a handgun out of the passenger side window.

Fort Wayne Police officers then joined the pursuit to locate and secure the gun, which was later determined to have been stolen back on January 4th of this year.

Purifoy finally stopped his car in the area of Hanna and LaSalle Streets before getting out of his car and running through the Chapel Oaks Apartment Complex.

Trooper Grant got out of his car and chased down Purifoy, who has ties to the D-Boys Gang. Purifoy was allegedly found with marijuana and he was taken to the Allen County Jail on the following preliminary charges:

• Resisting Law Enforcement With a Vehicle
• Resisting Law Enforcement
• Possession of a Handgun by a Felon
• Possession of a Handgun Without a Permit
• Receiving Stolen Property
• Possession of Marijuana
• Criminal Trespass
