Indianapolis Day Care Shooting Suspect in Court

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) – A judge entered a not guilty plea for a man accused of shooting his ex-wife outside an Indianapolis day care center.

Thirty-three-year-old Christopher Justice appeared in court after being arrested Wednesday in Lexington, Ky., on a warrant charging him with attempted murder in the Feb. 18 shooting of 31-year-old Shirley Justice moments after she dropped off her two children at the day care center.

Christopher Justice was being held in the Marion County Jail on a $100,000 bond. It's unclear if he has an attorney.

Indianapolis Metro Police Detective Marcus Kennedy tells WISH-TV the victim fears for her safety if the man is released from jail. She remains in critical condition recovering from eight gunshot wounds.

Court records indicate a custody dispute between the couple.
