FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): An Allen County jury has convicted a man of a near-fatal 2015 Fort Wayne shooting.

53-year-old Homer Richards was found guilty Wednesday of attempted murder and aggravated battery for shooting a man inside a liquor store on the city’s south side last September, paralyzing the man from the chest down. The Journal Gazette reports that testimony showed it happened after Richards lost a fight with his victim over a female clerk, and Richards shot the man afterwards.

He claims he thought the victim was trying to rob the store, but the jury didn’t buy it.

Richards will be sentenced on March 16th and could get more than 20 years in prison.
