INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (WOWO): The state medical licensing board voted Thursday to suspend the medical license of a Fort Wayne pain doctor, according to the Journal Gazette.
Dr. Michael Cozzi was suspended for 90 days after federal agents say he over-prescribed pain pills to his patients.
He was arrested Tuesday when federal agents raided his home and offices. He was charged with felony possession of cocaine or a narcotic drug. He has since been released on bond.
He allegedly prescribed drugs like oxycodone and hydrocodone to 1,700 separate people in the first 38 days of 2016.
Investigators say that some of those patients have died because of the drugs.
The investigation is still ongoing.
Board member Barai said seeing 80-100 patients a day is not reasonable; motion to suspend passes. 90 days
