Fort Wayne Residents Urged to Test Homes for Radon

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): The Fort Wayne-Allen County Department of Health and the American Cancer Society are reminding residents to have their homes tested for radon.

According the American Cancer Society, exposure to radon is the leading cause of lung cancer in non-smokers and having your home tested is the only effective way to make sure you’re not at risk of exposure to the radioactive gas.

Free test kits are available from the health department while supplies last or can be purchased for less than $20 at hardware and home improvement stores.
