FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Three Fort Wayne schools are collecting jeans for homeless teens.

Northrop and North Side high schools and Portage Middle School are participating in Jeans for Teens, Krista Stockman with Fort Wayne Community Schools said.

The public can donate new or gently used jeans at North Side High School, 475 E. State Blvd.; Northrop High School, 7001 Coldwater Road; or Portage Middle School, 3521 Taylor St.

The project is part of DoSomething.org, a national non-profit organization for young people who take action in social change.

The three schools that collect the most jeans will receive a grant. The top school will get $3,000, while second place will earn $2,000 and third 3rd will get $1,000. Every two pairs of jeans a student collects earns them a chance to win a $5,000 scholarship.

The drive will end Feb. 19 at Northrop. North Side and Portage will continue collecting donations until Feb. 26.
